Volcanic Cone - Askja Caldera

Askja is a caldera situated in a remote part of the central highlands of Iceland and the name refers to a complex of nested calderas within the surrounding Dyngjufjöll mountains, which rise to 1,510 m (4,954 ft). Getting here was a long, long drive across the rivers and lava fields of central Iceland, but it was worth it as Askja is stunning.
